1. बदसूरत बतख
बहुत समय पहले एक बत्तख थी , जिसने चार अंडे दिए । वह चारों अंडे थोड़े दिनों बाद टूट गए । जिसमें से चार सुंदर सुंदर बच्चे निकले । तीन बच्चे देखने में एक जैसे ही थे जबकि एक बच्चा बड़ा और कुछ सांवले रंग का था । सारे बच्चे उसके ऊपर उसके रंग की वजह से हंसने लगे । वे उसे बदसूरत कहने लगे । वह बहुत उदास रहने लगा ।
कुछ दिनों बाद उसने नदी में एक सफेद हंस को तैरते हुए देखा । उसका मन भी तैरने को होने लगा । अब वह नदी के पास गया । जैसे ही उसने अपनी परछाई पानी में देखी । वह समझ गया कि वह एक बदसूरत बतख नहीं था बल्कि वह एक खूबसूरत हंस था ।

A long time ago there was a duck that laid four eggs. Those four eggs broke after a few days. Out of which four beautiful children came out. Three children were similar in appearance while one child was bigger and some were dark in colour. All the children started laughing at him because of his colour.
They started calling her ugly. He started being very sad. After a few days he saw a white swan swimming in the river. His mind also started to swim. Now he went to the river. As soon as he saw his reflection in the water. He understood that he was not an ugly duckling but a beautiful swan.

एक गुलाब का पौधा और नागफनी का पौधा रेगिस्तान में साथ-साथ खड़े थे । गुलाब के पौधे को अपनी सुंदरता पर बहुत घमंड था । गुलाब का पौधा नागफनी के पौधे का मजाक उड़ाता रहता । वह कहता कि मैं तो कितना सुंदर हूं और तुम कितने बदसूरत हो । नागफनी का पौधा फिर भी कभी बुरा नहीं मानता । एक बार बहुत दिनों से बारिश नहीं हुई । तब गुलाब का पौधा सूखने लगा । लेकिन नागफनी का पौधा वैसे ही खड़ा था ।
नागफनी ने गुलाब से कहा कि “यदि तुम चाहो तो मैं तुम्हें थोड़ा सा पानी दे सकता हूं , क्योंकि मैं अपने अंदर बहुत दिनों तक पानी जमा करके रख सकता हूं ।” गुलाब को यह देखकर अपनी गलती का एहसास हुआ । गुलाब ने नागफनी से माफी मांगी और पानी मांगा । अब वह फिर से हरा भरा हो गया । अब गुलाब और नागफनी में दोस्ती हो गई ।

यह कहानी है एक पर्वतारोही की जो पहाड़ों पर चढ़ने का इतना बड़ा शौक़ीन था कि वह हर पहाड़ पर चढ़ना चाहता था। एक बार उसने रात के समय पहाड़ की छोटी छूने की सोची तो वह रात में पहाड़ पर चढ़ने लगा। काफी ऊपर चढ़ने के बाद उसका पैर अचानक किसी बर्फ के टुकड़े से टकराकर फिसल गया।
वह नीचे की और फिसलते ही जा रहा था , फिसलते फिसलते उसे एहसास हुआ की वह मरने वाला है। तभी अचानक उसके हाथ में कहीं से एक रस्सी आ गयी जो किसी पहाड़ से बंधी हुयी थी। वह उस रस्सी को पकड़ कर लटक गया। उसने नीचे की और देखा , चारों और अँधेरा ही अँधेरा था।
तभी अचानक से उसे कोई आवाज सुनाई दी। कोई उसका नाम पुकारते हुए कह रहा था की में ईश्वर हूँ , अगर तुम खुद पर और मुझ पर विश्वास करते हो तो रस्सी छोड़कर कूद जाओ। उसने इधर उधर देखा कोई दिखाई नहीं दिया बस हर तरफ अँधेरा ही था। उसने डर के कारण रस्सी नहीं छोड़ी।
जब सुबह हुई तो बचाव दल वहां पहुंचा तो वह पर्वतारोही मृत अवस्था में पाया गया। अगली सुबह उसका शरीर जमीन से केवल दो कदम की ऊँचाई पर बर्फ से जमा हुआ पाया गया । यदि वह रस्सी छोड़ देता तो उसकी जान बच जाती।

This is the story of a mountaineer who was so fond of climbing mountains that he wanted to climb every mountain. Once he thought of touching the mountain a little at night, then he started climbing the mountain at night. After climbing up a lot, his foot suddenly slipped after hitting a piece of ice.
He kept on sliding down while slipping and he realized that he was about to die. Then suddenly a rope came into his hand from somewhere which was tied to a mountain. He hanged holding that rope. He looked down, there was darkness all around.
Then suddenly he heard a sound. Someone was calling his name saying I am God, if you believe in yourself and I then leave the rope and jump. He looked here and there, no one was visible, there was only darkness everywhere. He didn’t let go of the rope because of fear.
When the rescue team reached there in the morning, the climber was found dead. His body was found frozen in the snow at a height of only two steps from the ground. If he had let go of the rope, his life would have been saved.
